Thursday Camp Song – Chicken Song #1

December 20th, 2007 · 1 Comment

This is one of my all time favorite camp songs. I learned it at Kenesserie Camp, where I grew up going to camp. One of my best memories of the song is teaching it to the younger campers at Camp Wapomeo when the older campers were out on trip. The older sections got back and the younger sections rocked the dining hall with Chicken and blew their minds. It was such a great experience.

Chicken

C – that’s the way it begins and
H – that’s the next letter in and
I – you’re in the middle of the word and
C – you’ve already heard and
K – that’s the name of the hen and
E – now you’re nearin’ the
N

C-H-I-C-K-E-N
That’s the way you spell chicken.

Rufus, Raskus, Johnson & Brown,
Whatcha ya gonna do when the rent comes around?
Whatcha ya gonna do, oh whatcha ya gonna say,
You can’t pay the rent ’til the break of day.

You know and I know, and everyone knows,
That you can’t pay the rent if you ain’t got the dough,
Rufus, Raskus, Johnson & Brown,
Whatcha gonna do, when the rent comes around?

Here is the audio…
