Great post.
In answer to the question, " What can we do to ensure that more children experience the magic of camp?" I see the future of summer camp taking on a similar role as college in the education track. The case has been made for the importance of camp in the lives of children.
I see it possible to create many opportunities to make camp available to all children regardless of economic background. As a society in the US, we have accepted that college can be a huge expense, and we take out loans and apply for financial aid in order to pay for it. Why not scholarships and financial aid for summer camp? Organizations like SCOPE and Project Morry are already doing many things to give children the opportunity to attend camp.
So, yes, maybe the business model for camp will be changing, but as you stated... Change Is Good.
