Day 18 – Camp Director Check In

Spent the morning driving to pick up some new Crokinole Boards for camp.  Picked up some other supplies while I was out – smoke detectors, toilet handles, fans for the kitchen.  All of the small things that help camp keep going.  Got back just in time to play guitar at chapel.

It is a great thing to have a staff at camp that you trust and know that they can handle situations that arise.  There are some leaders in the world that instill themselves into an organization so that they have to be present to make all the decisions.  One of the best signs of being comfortable as a leader – is letting others lead.

We work very hard at Pearce Williams to have our staff become stronger, better and more aware leaders.  We do this by letting them lead – give them the skills, help them understand how and why we make decisions – then let them do it.  You need to push some of the people into the role – but many of them take to it without much pushing.

Camp is hot.  Very hot.  Tomorrow is water games day…
